Beaches South-East Algarve

AROUND CASAL DA EIRA

Part of the beautiful nature reserve Ria da Formosa are the following beaches in the Algarve:

Praia Verde
With a calm sea and palm trees in the back. This beach is popular with families with children.

Praia da Ilha de Tavira
It’s the beach on the island off the coast of Tavira where you can go by ferry boat.

Praia do Barril
Near Fuseta is reached by the bridge that spans the river. At Pedras de El Rei a little train leaves for the beach. But you can also walk to the beach. On your way to the beach, you will find several ship anchors dropped in the dunes as a monument. You’ll enjoy a seemingly endless sandy beach.

Praia da Fuseta     Good for small children because of the calm sea. It is also possible to take the ferry to the island. It is only a 5 minutes tour to get there. Endless sandy beach.

Armona, Culatra en Farol
Can be reached by regular ferry from Olhão. It is possible to go by ferry to the island Culatra and walk along the beach to Farol (lighthouse). There you can get the ferry back to Olhão.

Praia da Ilha de Faro
The beach near Faro Airport, you can reach it by car, bicycle or on foot through a narrow bridge. Fantastic authentic atmosphere. It is a nice hike along the beach to the east end of the island. You could walk back at the Ria Formosa side of the island.

Beaches South-West Algarve

AROUND CASAL DA EIRA

The beaches in the south west are relatively busier than those in the south east. Most of these beaches have beautiful rock formations as a background.

Praia de Dona Ana
In Lagos is one of the most photographed beaches in the Algarve, thanks to the ‘golden’ rock formations.

Meia Praia
Also near Lagos is a popular, busy beach with many water sports options.

Praia da Rocha
At Portimão has one of the most famous beaches because of the nightlife on the boulevard.

Praia da Marinha and Praia da Benagil
Two quiet beaches, tucked between towering cliffs where you can go snorkeling properly. The cliffs and clear blue water make this beach an unforgettable place to be. Located at Lagoa.

Praia da Falésia
Just past Vilamoura. Trendy beach bars and long sandy beach with red rock wall at the back.

Praia Olhos de Água
Close to Albufeira. Located in a rocky bay. Olhos de Água, means’ eyes filled with water’. This remarkable name refers to the freshwater springs which bubbles up at some places on the coast. At low tide the water wells up, right on the beach and give some strange circular spots in the beach. These round spots look a bit like ‘eyes filled with water’.
